Announcing the Bowel Cancer Risk Identification Program

Cancer of the large bowel is the most common internal cancer in Australia after prostate cancer in men and breast cancer in women. It develops in one in 22 Australians. If detected early bowel cancer is curable.

Bowel Cancer is the most prevalent new cancer and has the second highest cancer mortality rate. But it’s not all bad news. Although diagnosis rates have gradually increased in the past 20 years, mortality rates have gradually decreased.

Diagnosis is relatively easy, but like all cancers, the earlier the diagnosis, the better the treatment outcomes. Bowel Cancer is usually well advanced before symptoms become apparent. You can obtain early diagnosis via an FOBT (Faecal Occult Blood Test) and colonoscopy.

An FOBT is a quick, easy, non-invasive and painless test that is undertaken in the privacy of your own home. It requires you to use an InSure kit to obtain samples of toilet water from around the stool (using a brush provided in the kit), then brushing the sample onto the test kit and posting it in the reply paid envelope for analysis.

Don’t wait until you have symptoms before you get it checked out.

Take the FOBT now!

We would like to present to you another wellness initiative by GMHBA. Targeting early diagnosis of Bowel Cancer the program is called the GMHBA Bowel Cancer Risk Identification Program and enables our Members access to an FOBT supplied by InSure Ltd. at an exclusive Members price of $27.00 (includes postage and handling).
